Social media is a great way to increase your nonprofit's exposure and reach. It helps you spread the word and fulfill your objectives. Here are three social media marketing tips for nonprofits.

Hold Donation Drives

One of the great advantages of social media is the ability to go viral. If you hold a donation drive, it’s easy to get the word out and get people to donate. If you have a dollar-for-dollar matching offer, people will be even more inclined to give. The key is to ask people to retweet, reshare, repost, and spread the word -- even if they themselves can not afford to give.

Utilize Facebook Advertising

With Facebook advertising, it is easy to target a very specific audience. You should use their audience insights tool to target specific demographics, such as people of a specific age group or location. You can also target people based on interests, such as people who have shown an interest in the cause you are advocating for. You can even target people who have visited your website or are on your emailing list.

Steer Clear From Controversial Topics

You want to remain a nonprofit. Don’t comment on controversial topics; it is certain to drive a specific segment of the population away. Stay clear to your message.

Analyze and Tweak

Keep on analyzing your results. Do split testing to see how small changes increase or decrease your results. Keep on analyzing and testing; this will help you continually improve your campaigns.
